This is a chance to start thinking about the kinds of social policies you might include for the team assignment that’s due at the end of Module Seven. First, see the reading on Rawls posted in the ungraded thread. Rawls wants to answer the question: What is a just world? For example, what kind of social policies should be in place that benefits everyone? To do that he wants to identify policies that a person with impartial judgment would agree to, meaning a person that wasn’t biased by their own circumstances. Second, imagine some social policies that you–as a person of impartial judgment–think should be in place in a just world. For example, there could be a wealth tax, an equal rights amendment, and so on… What would you suggest? Share several policies with the class. Keep these in mind when you start working with your team. |
