We can see how education (directly and indirectly) may reinforce norms and expectations for gender roles. This happens in every society, and changes come slowly. While education may reinforce these, it can also be a means for transformation. We are seeing this today, with women now occupying a higher percentage of college enrollment. Let’s hope this educational progress will bring about positive change to close the salary gap – which still persists today. How might such expectations influence how we exercise leadership, especially as we collaborate with people from other cultures?
