Students will evaluate and discuss the application of spiritual elements of leadership within a secular context. Specifically, students should carefully review The Top Ten Leadership Principles of Jesus, and related commentary and verses, presented by Maxwell & Elmore (p. 1239). Students should consider these points by Maxwell & Elmore, while addressing the applicability of each principle to secular leadership. In other words, for each principle, students should discuss how Maxwell & Elmore’s findings may (or may not) apply to situations in secular leadership, such as in sports, business, politics, and so on. Students should identify which principles may have more or less benefit to secular leaders, including how secular leaders might adjust certain principles to fit a non-Biblical worldview. Students should consider and apply the Blackaby & Blackaby text in addressing the ten principles. Students should offer examples to convey their understanding and applicability of the points made by Blackaby & Blackaby and/or Maxwell & Elmore in discussing these specific spiritual elements of leadership. The course paper should be at least 5 pages in length, and may leverage content from the assigned readings, supplemental readings of the student’s choosing, experiences, and class discussions. Papers should be double-spaced, use 12-point font, and utilize one-inch margins. Students citing outside sources should follow APA formatting guidelines. In order to earn the maximum available points for this course paper, students must: Convey an extensive understanding of assigned readings (Blackaby & Blackaby as well as Maxwell & Elmore) in developing each part of the paper: Review the Top Ten Leadership Principles of Jesus and related commentary and verses presented by Maxwell & Elmore (p. 1239). Discuss the applicability of each principle to secular leadership. Identify which principles may have more or less benefit to secular leaders, including how secular leaders might adjust certain principles to fit a non-Biblical worldview. Apply comments from Blackaby & Blackaby, as well as examples, in discussing the principles. Provide a sufficient level of depth and content in responding to each requirement. Provide a clear and cogent treatment of the required topics. Provide a response that is well-written and presented with excellent grammar and formatting.
