The article will be reviewed in a 4 page paper that addresses each of the following components: Sources and Search 4 points -To gain some familiarity with the professional literature, the articles must be drawn from among the following PROFESSIONAL JOURNALS: · Educational Leadership · Elementary School Journal · Illinois Schools Journal · Journal of Educational Research · TESOL Journal · TESL-EJ The article must be at least three pages long. Include with your review a photocopy of the entire journal article. Articles that are required for class MAY NOT be used for journal reviews. Citation 8 Points- Provide a citation for the article you review according to the Publications Manual of the American Psychological Association, Sixth Edition. Citations will be evaluated for required information (nothing extra, nothing missing), sequence, and punctuation. Summary 8 Points -Provide a summary that is coherent and identifies at least three main points. That is, tell some details but also communicate the main thrust of the article. Paraphrase rather than quote. Discussion 8 Points -This section is for your commentary and reaction to the article. It also must identify the one or two significant points that will allow you to contribute to a general class discussion on this topic (e.g., “My classmates should know …”). The discussion should be the largest section of your review. Conclusion: 4 Points This section should include an intelligent and discernible conclusion to your commentary and reaction.
