In times that you have failed, was it because of external forces you did not expect, or internal forces that you under or over estimated?

I just need the question answered I am including the whole post so you have some background: Question: In times that you have failed, was it because of external forces you did not expect, or internal forces that you under or over estimated? “Love thy neighbor,” is a prevalent theme in the Bible. How does one effectively make decisions that show “love” while taking into account the results of objective forecasting tools? From the fall of man there has always seemed to be conflict among people. Whether it is among countries that border one another, or even the person at the next office that uses speakerphone for every call, there is going to be agitation and aggravation. I think that the one huge takeaway is that people and their lives are messy, and that no matter how we want to be objective about people and their situations, we have to remember that God looks upon the heart. “To handle the increasing variety and complexity of managerial forecasting problems, many forecasting techniques have been developed in recent years. Each has its special use, and care must be taken to select the correct technique for a particular application. The manager as well as the forecaster has a role to play in technique selection; and the better they understand the range of forecasting possibilities, the more likely it is that a company’s forecasting efforts will bear fruit. (Chambers, et al, 1971). I found this quote from Harvard Business Review from 1971. As I read this article, I was reminded of Solomon writing in Ecclesiastes 1:14 “I have seen all the works that are done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity, a striving after the wind and a feeding on the wind.” (AMPC). Business has always looked for the simpler and faster ways to do things. Even with techniques that have been proven time and time again, there is no flexibility to allow for forgiveness, or being able to course correct without bringing someones self esteem down. I think it is possible to use objective tools and things, but still have the ability to override the results based on what is best for ‘the neighbor’ and everyone else. Question: In times that you have failed, was it because of external forces you did not expect, or internal forces that you under or over estimated?
